Modern Country Kitchen Hampshire
BRIEF
Far stretching views
The owners of this Hampshire home wanted to renovate their existing kitchen and make the most of their lovely far-stretching views out to the garden that were blocked by a wall.
Top of their wishlist was a large 1500 AGA and traditional styling was required. Jane, the cook, loves having her friends over for drinks and dinner.
She wanted the kitchen to be very much her zone and for her friends to be in the room but without crowding the cook’s space.
CHALLENGE
Overcoming the issues
A new floor-to-ceiling bay window replaced the existing one to allow light to flood the room. Upon entering, you are led towards the dining area side of this open plan space to take in the long sweeping valley views out to the garden and steer guests away from entering the cook’s space.
Ian is a big TV and sports fan so wanted to be able to watch TV wherever he may be sat in the room.
With this in mind, Amanda designed a hidden pop-up tv in the peninsula that divides kitchen and dining areas. The TV can be rotated as required when up.
The Island has a dual purpose; as well as providing a welcome, it also controls the kitchen boundary, allowing friends to prop at the side but kept away from the kitchen prep area. Amanda created a hot drinks & coffee corner with bespoke coffee pod storage above the stand-alone coffee machine and positioned a small sink with a Quooker Hot Tap for non-coffee lovers.
The style and colours continue on through into the Utility/Boot room space which has dual entry from the kitchen and is purposely designed to accommodate all of the client’s utility items such as an ironing board, vacuum and dog food storage as well as a large double pantry cupboard which provides additional storage to house the non-essential items such as tins and tupperware.
OUTCOME
Defined cooking and entertaining zones
The room is now light and spacious with defined cooking and entertaining zones, encompassing the beautiful far-stretching views of the Hampshire countryside. The ambience is warm and welcoming with a traditional theme.
We’re proud to have this kitchen project featured in the National home interiors magazine Country Homes and Interiors & homesandgardens.com.
The design is brilliant - not a term we use lightly. The designer obviously took the time to understand how we wanted to use the kitchen and was prepared to be a bit radical in producing something that met our needs. The kitchen has been a delight to use. The installations manager and the installer did a really good and helpful job on the installation and were very flexible in making some customised pieces that have really worked for us.
